Gender determination ultrasounds are commonly scheduled starting around 13+ weeks, depending on baby’s position and visibility during the scan. If baby is not in a good position, it may be difficult to confirm confidently during that visit.

Even with great preparation, every baby is different, and some babies hide behind hands, feet, the placenta, or the uterine wall.

A full bladder is usually not needed for a keepsake 3D, 4D, or HD ultrasound appointment. We want you to be comfortable during your visit. If your medical provider has given you specific instructions for your pregnancy, always follow their guidance first.

Stay well hydrated in the days before your visit, eat normally unless your provider has told you otherwise, and arrive a few minutes early so you have time to check in and get comfortable. Some families find that a light snack or juice before the appointment may encourage baby movement.

Baby’s position, placenta location, fluid levels, gestational age, and whether baby is facing outward all affect what we can see. Sometimes babies cover their face, face the spine, or stay tucked in a position that limits facial images.

If baby is not cooperating, we may try different angles, gentle position changes, or give baby time to move. If clear images or gender confirmation are not possible during the appointment, our team can explain any available rescan options based on your session and circumstances.

Yes. A breech position does not automatically prevent a keepsake ultrasound. It may make some facial views more challenging, but many families can still receive meaningful images depending on baby’s position, fluid, and viewing angle.
